Alabama HVAC Technicians

Alabama currently does not require an HVAC license for HVAC technicians. However, HVAC technicians in Alabama must be at least 18 years of age.

Alabama HVAC Contractors

HVAC Contractors in Alabama are required to have a valid license.

How to get licensed:

Prerequisites (1 of the following are required):

  • Graduate from an HVAC program at an approved school
  • Furnish proof of 3000 hours experience and/or coursework
  • Obtain an apprentice registration for 2 years

1. Submit an examination application here. There is a$150.00 fee.

2. Pass the exam with a minimum score of 66.25% (53 out of 80 questions).

3. Present the state with a bond for the amount of $15,000. You may use this form.

Please remember that federal law requires an appropriate EPA certification.
