Iowa HVAC License Requirements

Iowa HVAC Technician License

Iowa currently offers 3 separate HVAC licenses for technicians:

• Apprentice
• Journeyperson
• Master

Prerequisites to getting licensed:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma (or GED) or higher required
• For a journeyperson or master, 4 years of experience are required

Steps to get licensed:

• Apprentice – Pay $50 application fee and apply here.
• Journeyperson – Fill out application here and pass appropriate exam.
• Master – Fill out application and pass appropriate master exam.
